INTRODUCTION
Chaplain Assistant Support to Military Parish Organizations
presented instruction to familiarize the chaplain assistant with the
organizational concept of parish development within the military
community and included a guideline for the UMT's role in parish
development and the parish/chapel council.
Chaplain Assistant Support to Military Parish Programs is a
practical extension of that subcourse in that it provides information
on program development given the organizational make-up presented in
Chaplain Assistant Support to Military Parish Organizations.
There are many programs which a chaplain assistant must be
familiar with.
For the Active Duty chaplain assistant dealing with
parish programs will be part of everyday life.
For the Reserve Component chaplain assistant, these programs
will become real upon mobilization and the move to the mobilization
station.
Familiarity with religious retreats, religious educational
materials, and publicity are integral parts of the overall program.
In part, the chaplain assistant's role will be to provide admin
support for these programs. As part of the UMT, however, his or her
role can extend to a wider management of these programs.
In any
case, chaplain assistants must understand the purposes and dynamics
of these programs.
