CAUTION
Do not fire a weapon that has water trapped in the bore.
To remove water from the bore (M-16), pull charging handle
rearward, ejecting cartridges, depress the lower portion of the bolt
catch, then shake water from bore via muzzle. Depress the upper
portion of the bolt catch, allowing the bolt to close, chambering a
round, and locking the bolt in the forward position.
CAUTION
Do not use dented magazines, or ones with spread or damaged lips. A
damaged magazine could cause repeated ammunition feeding failures.
The magazine should be turned in to the unit armor for exchange.
If an extraction cannot be corrected by normal cleaning, turn the
weapon in at the first opportunity. For detailed instructions, refer to
TM 9-1005-249-23&P.
